As I write this, we are nearing the end of the year 2020 AD. Many will say that the end of this year could not come soon enough. It has been a tough year.

The year 2020 is a significant year for me. On September 5, will celebrate my 50th anniversary of priesthood. I find myself asking the question,“How did these years go by so quickly?” In recent years as celebrated the Eucharist, I often thought what a privilege it is to celebrate Mass.
Our current retreat theme is “Broken, Blessed and Sent,” which are the three defining movements of our life journey. Being in touch with the interplay between these three realities helps us to realize how God uses every experience of our life journey to help us become spiritually mature and wise.
“Life is not always easy. St. Paul writes, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Rom 8:31) God is not only for but became one with us in his Son, Jesus. Jesus teaches us how to find the blessedness the fragile moments our lives. Brokenness is never the last word. The last words are “Blessed” and “Sent.’”
