Steps We’re Taking to Promote the Health and Safety of Our Staff, Guests, and Visitors

  1. Screening In an effort to keep everyone safe, Christ the King Retreat Center employees and guests are required to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms before entering our building. We ask that anyone who is experiencing a fever, cough, shortness of breath, headache, sore throat, muscle pain, and/or a new loss of taste/smell—or has come in contact with someone with these symptoms—to stay home.
  2. Face Masks All staff members are required to wear a face masks during his/her shift. Likewise, all guests are required to wear a face mask when outside of his/her guest room. We ask that you bring a face mask(s) from home. However, disposable face masks will be provided to anyone who arrives on our premises without one. Retreat presenters must remain at least 10 feet away from their audience if wearing a face mask is not feasible. 
  3. Hand Hygiene Employees are instructed to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water frequently throughout the day, and all visitors to the retreat center are required to use hand sanitizer upon arrival. A bottle of hand sanitizer is located at each entrance and outside the gift shop.
  4. Social Distancing Until further notice, all presentations and liturgies will be held in DeMazenod Hall (large conference room) to provide adequate social spacing. The chapel and garden court are available for private devotion and social distancing guidelines will be followed. The dining rooms (dependent on group size) are configured to allow for adequate social spacing, and social distancing guidelines will be followed in buffet lines as well. The maximum number of people allowed in any particular group will be determined by our building capacity and recommendations made by the State of Minnesota and the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis.
  5. Sanitization Measures Following guidelines established by federal and state health authorities, Christ the King Retreat Center supervisors have created sanitization protocols to ensure the health and safety of staff, guests, and visitors. Completion of a formalized training program is required by all employees which includes department-specific sanitization procedures.
  6. Minimize Risk Given the size of the retreat center, it is imperative that we take every precaution to minimize the risk of possible exposure to COVID-19 as best we can. This means that seldomly used areas or areas that prove most difficult to sanitize will be closed off to staff and guests. We have also moved away from self-serve food and beverage options wherever possible.
